On the 27th of June 2009 the AVWA Commandoes participated in the All Nations Young Women’s Soccer Tournament held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC). Overall there were 8 teams who competed to be Premiers with all teams representing a diverse range of ethnicities. The team played 6 games before reaching the final conceding only one game before winning on penalties (2-0, 4-0, 4-0, 0-2, 2-0, 3-0, 3-0 final-penalties). Kim Nguyen the team captain also said that.
“The girls played very well, they remained positive over the entire competition and showed good sportsmanship. Overall I think they had fun throughout the day and were just happy that won the competition.”
