Cam Nguyen is the Founder and current President of AVWA. She also held the position of CEO for 18 years until June 2022. Cam has an undergraduate degree and a masters degree in Economics from Cambridge University. She was also the winner of the Victorian 2021 Senior Australian of the Year amongst her many accolades. Cam is passionate about helping people in the Vietnamese community to improve their lives and has dedicated the last 40 years to ensure AVWA continues to grow and make a difference in people’s lives. She is a visionary leader and well known in the community for her achievements.

Thanh-Kham Tran-Dang OAM serves as the organisation's Vice President and brings an extensive background in various professional roles to her position. Mrs. Tran-Dang completed her studies at the University of Saigon in 1964, earning a Bachelor of Arts (Licence-es-lettres). Subsequently, she acquired additional certificates that have enabled her to excel in multiple roles across various Departments and Associations in Australia. She is a founding and life-long member of AVWA, where she has actively served on the Committee of Management in capacities such as President, Vice President, and Secretary. Throughout her distinguished career, Mrs. Tran-Dang has garnered several accolades that attest to her exceptional contributions to the community. These include Victoria's Multicultural Awards for Excellence, her designation as Ambassador for the 2011 Census Australia, and the Woman of the Year Award from the City of Yarra. Moreover, she has been honoured on the Victorian Honour Roll of Women and was most recently awarded the Australian Order of Merit (OAM) in 2021.

25 years working with the Australian Public Service as a Compliance officer, Mai-Lan Nguyen has continuously demonstrated excellent service to the community through her commitment to genuine listening, respect, adaptability, accountability and integrity.

Tran My Hanh is a graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce. My Hanh worked for Dong Phuong Bank from 1971 in Saigon City as Chief of Credit Department where she worked for a period of 14 years. My Hanh arrived in Australia in 1988 and has held many senior roles for community organisations including AVA Boroondara Senior Citizens Group which she joined in 2013 and became President of AVA Boroondara Senior Citizens association in 2017. She has been a member of AVWA since 2006. She was elected to the Committee of Management and the Treasurer role from Nov 2022 where she makes a significant contribution, including an important role in the Finance Subcommittee. In  2023, she was honored to receive the Certificate of appreciation and recognition from Victoria State Government: " 2023 Victorian Senior of the Year Awards ". My Hanh is an enthusiastic and skilled performer within the community in choir and cultural dance.

Anna has two decades of experience as a legal practitioner both in private practice and corporate environments. Graduating with Honours from Melbourne University Law School in 1998, Anna obtained articles from Davies Collison Cave before traveling to the UK where she spent three years specialising in intellectual property law. On returning to Australia, Anna joined prominent law firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth. As a Senior Associate, she worked for clients including Cadbury Schweppes, Nike, Louis Vuitton and the Gucci Group. Anna left Corrs seven years later to start her in-house career at Bob Jane Corporation. In 2013, she joined the executive team at Dennis Family Corporation, one of Australia’s leading privately owned residential land development and building companies. In her role as Legal Counsel, Anna leads a team of lawyers providing legal services to meet the needs of a broad section of the business and its entities. Her legal expertise is utilised across a broad variety of responsibilities including negotiating and drafting commercial agreements, managing claims, disputes, and providing high level advice to managers across a range of issues including property, construction, procurement, marketing and brand protection. Anna is a Member of the Association of Corporate Counsel, Australian chapter. She is also a longstanding Member of the HIA’s Legal and Industrial Relations Committee. In 2022, Anna joined the Management Committee of the Australian Vietnamese Women’s Association.

Mai Nguyen is passionate about community services. Mai has a depth and breadth of experience in Business Management having worked for Department in Education for many years. Mai is now is a Policy Adviser for Federal Member of Parliament for Fraser, Dr Daniel Mulino. Mai’s community spirit drives her to always try to make a positive impact on people’s lives. Mai currently holds a number of volunteer positions which include President of Australian-Vietnamese Arts & Culture Association, Principal of Association Vietnamese Culture Studies, Co-founding member of Women’s Support Network and Member of Victorian Mullticultural Commission - North West Metropolitan Regional Advisory. Mai joined the AVWA Committee of Management in November 2022 and is an important contributing member of Finance Subcommittee.
Trinh Phan | Member

Trinh Phan is a Critical Care Registered Nurse - Clinical Nurse Specialist in Cardiology and Cardiothoracic specialty, working in a dedicated Heart Hospital in Victoria. She is an active community welfare advocate for the last 15 years being in Australia. Trinh has started her journey with AVWA as a volunteer – then became a project officer for 8 years before pursuing her career as a nurse. Trinh is now gladly a member of AVWA Board since April 2023 and is also a member of the Clinical Governance Subcommittee.
Cuc Lam | Member

Cuc Lam has had a thirty-year career in the public service, and for the last forty years she has been involved with a number of not-for-profit organisations, school committees, migrant resource centres and local government agencies. Cuc has been a Councillor with the City of Maribyrnong for over a decade, and has served as Mayor for two terms, 2017/18 and 2023/24. She currently volunteers as a board member for Western Health Foundation , Australia Local Women’s Association Victoria and sits as a member of the community advisory with Western Health Hospital. Cuc has a number of hobby qualifications such as real estate agent rep, age care , disability , Training and assessment and Pathology. She joined AVWA in 2023 as a Committee Member and is pleased to contribute through her skills and expertise to an organisation she has always admired. Cuc is very passionate and is dedicated to give back her time to the country which she calls a second home.

Thuy has executive leadership in community organisations including Chair of Cairnlea Advisory Group, Chair of Brimbank Art Advisory Committee, Mentor of Women and Mentoring, Founding Vice-President of Women’s Support Network and Deputy Mayor of Brimbank City Council. Thuy has also contributed to our diverse, multicultural local community as Founding President of Australian Vietnamese Arts, Program Director of TNT Media, Vice-President of St Albans Business Group and President of Melbourne Vietnamese Lions Club.

Ngoc Nicky Chung joined AVWA as the CEO in August 2022. She has attained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and is a graduate of the Senior Executive Master of Business Administration program from Melbourne Business School. She has held senior leadership roles in people, community and strategy and has worked across a range of industries including natural resources, telecommunications and local government. She is currently the Deputy Chair for Bass Coast Health, a Board Member for South Coast FM and the President of her local Rotary Club. Ngoc is an active community and inclusion advocate.

Huy is a dedicated leader with decades of experience in community and education, began his journey in 1998 as a Youth Support Services Officer and a Vietnamese language teacher. He excelled in various projects, securing government grants, but his most impactful role has been as AVWA's Operations Manager since 2016. Beyond community service, Huy is a respected educator, co-authoring the renowned "I Learn Vietnamese" books for Year 11 and 12 students, adopted widely in Australia and Europe. At Lac Hong Vietnamese School, he served for 15 years, notably as a VCE Teacher and Coordinator. Huy's career exemplifies unwavering commitment to the Vietnamese community, driving positive change. His leadership remains a source of inspiration and empowerment, enabling others to realise their full potential.

Hoa Trinh is an experienced finance professional with more than 20 years working across various industries. Hoa started her career with one of the Big 4 consulting firms, before moving to different sectors. Hoa has gained extensive expertise in financial and management accounting, inventory and procurement management, business strategic planning, and enterprise solution from her previous roles as chief accountant, financial controller, and business advisor with Australian and international companies and organisations. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce, an MBA, and is a CPA. Hoa joined AVWA in 2012 and currently holds the position of Finance Manager. Hoa has excellent whole-of-organisation thinking and is an integral part of the Senior Leadership team

Thuy Nguyen started with AVWA as a volunteer in 2005, and it was from the very early stages that AVWA recognised her range of skills and abilities. Thuy was most recently appointed into the role of Aged and Disability Services Manager in July 2023 after a period in the role of HCP Regional Manager (Northern, Eastern and Southern regions). Thuy also has a Bachelor of Social and Community Welfare from Monash University graduating in 2011. Thuy is highly respected amongst her peers and staff alike. She has proven to be diligent and exemplifies all of AVWA’s values. She is a highly valued member of the AVWA Leadership Team. Thuy is also a member of AVWA’s Clinical Governance Subcommittee, and Risk and Compliance Subcommittee.

Nam Nguyen has been working with the Australian Vietnamese Women’s Association since 2001. Nam started as a Housing Support Worker until 2004 after which she worked in the Family Support Project as a Project Coordinator to support Vietnamese families and younger people living in the City of Yarra. In 2012 she shifted gears and came to work in the Planned Activity Group (PAG) program which at the time had only 2 groups, but by 2023 it successfully expanded to 12 groups across Victoria. We are proud to have Nam progress from PAG Program Team Leader, to Coordinator in 2017 and most recently appointed as the Manager of the program in 2023.

Lien Huong Nguyen joined AVWA in 2010. She has over a decade of experience in the aged care sector and is committed to delivering high-quality care and helping team members grow professionally. She holds a Diploma in Community Service Coordination, a Master’s degree in International Business from Monash University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Lien Huong was appointed Regional Manager, Home Care Packages Program (North, East and South) in July 2023. Lien Huong is a much valued member of the HCP and AVWA Leadership Teams and is a positive contributor to a great workplace culture.

Dr Phuong Ngo has extensive experience in education. For the past 16 years he has been active in adult and community education, higher education, and vocational education and training. His varied roles have included university lecturer, marketing professional, Registered Training Organisation (RTO) management, and training project management. He joined AVWA Training and Vocational Services in February 2007 and is an invaluable member of the Senior Management team. Phuong has a passion for enabling diverse community members to access education and training, regardless of age, gender, background, experience, ethnicity or religion.
Tuan Bui | ICT Manager

Tuan Bui has been a passionate community-focused leader from an early age. He was involved with the Vietnamese Community through Hoa Niên in his high school years. As he progressed into university, he then served as the President of Vietnamese Student Association at Melbourne University. Interestingly, Tuan’s career began in Hong Kong working with the Vietnamese Asylum Seekers and Refugees through various Non-Government Organisations including UNHCR, SCF and ISS. He returned home to Melbourne in 1999 to commence a career in information technology. With an overwhelming desire to work with the Vietnamese community, he joined AVWA in 2019 using a wide range of his skills before settling in as AVWA’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Manager. He is a much-valued part of AVWA’s Senior Leadership Team.

Xuan Dung Huynh has been an IT professional 1992, Xuan Dung has been an integral of the AVWA team since 2005. Dung has been AVWA's Media & IT Coordinator since 2006, responsible for digital strategies and implementation of IT systems. Xuan Dung also serves as Phu Nu Viet Magazine's editor and production manager. Beyond IT and Media Dung also took on the responsibility of Office Manager in 2016 to ensure staff were cared for and to ensure smooth daily operations. Dung has responsibility to oversee AVWA’s buildings including maintenance and renovation projects. Dung is dedicated in his work to empower and support the Vietnamese community in Victoria.

Hien Dao joined AVWA in 2021 and is currently the People and Performance Coordinator for the Human Resources team. She has over a decade of experience in the field of Human Resources in both operational and strategic HR practices. Hien’s role is to oversee all aspects of human resource management, and the entire employee lifecycle, from hire to retire, and everything in between! She is focused on developing a strong team to deliver best in class HR services to a growing workforce. Hien provides AVWA with strong information systems and data analysis capability. She has a growth mindset and an ability to positively influence workplace culture.
