AVWA is looking for a HR Generalist

Location: Richmond/ Braybook/ Richmond

Reports to: People and Performance Coordinator

Employment Status: Full-time

Role Purpose

Are you ready to take the role of HR Generalist responsible for day-to-day HR operations including administration of the HR programs, compliance and procedures?

This role will also carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: volunteer coordination, student placement management, locum coordination, HR compliance and HR system administration.

What we are looking for:

  • Volunteer Coordination: -
    • Identify volunteer opportunities and needs across departments. 
    • Recruit and allocate volunteers to projects, enhancing the volunteer program.
    • Maintain records and communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure satisfaction.
    • Coordinate volunteer recognition events and activities.
  • Student Placement Management:
    • Manage processes related to student placements, including interviews and progress tracking.
    • Build relationships with institutions and manage payment approval processes. Locum Coordination:
    • Supervise locum staff, handling recruitment, onboarding, and allocation based on project needs.
  • HR Compliance Administration:
    • Review, update, and create employee handbooks, WHS documents, and policies.
    • Conducted staff training on HR compliance and supported compliance-related meetings and investigations.
    • Handle sensitive employee data and reports. HR System Administration:
    • Maintain and update employee records and databases.
    • Prepare periodic reports for management as needed.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Psychology, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Generalist HR role, demonstrating sound HR knowledge and contemporary practices.
  • Preferable experience in HR compliance and/or Employee Relations, particularly in medium- to large-sized businesses.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to multitask effectively. 
  • Proficiency in data analysis, presentation, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Outstanding minute-taking, proofreading, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and maintain confidentiality.
  • Flexibility, agility, and responsiveness to changing demands.
