Looking for a Dementia Support Group Facilitator Assistant

Employment type: Part-time (2 days/week)/ Casual
Role purpose:
The Dementia Support Group Facilitator Assistant provides essential support in the planning, coordination, and delivery of activities and services for the Dementia Support Group. This role involves assisting the Facilitator in organising sessions, engaging participants, and ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment that enhances the well-being and quality of life for individuals living with dementia.
What we are looking for:
1. Participant Engagement:
- Assist in the facilitation of group activities, ensuring all participants are engaged and included.
- Provide one-on-one support to participants as needed, helping them to participate fully in activities.
- Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere within the group.
2. Program Support:
- Help in setting up and preparing materials for group sessions, including arranging the physical space and resources needed for activities.
- Support the Facilitator in planning and organising events, outings, and special activities.
- Assist in developing activity plans that are tailored to the needs and abilities of participants.
3. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, participant progress, and any incidents during sessions.
- Assist in preparing reports and feedback on program outcomes and participant satisfaction.
- Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
4. Communication:
- Communicate effectively with participants, their families, and caregivers, providing updates and addressing any concerns.
- Collaborate with other staff and volunteers to ensure cohesive support for participants.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on program development and improvement.
5. Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with relevant health and safety guidelines.
- Report any concerns about participant well-being to the Facilitator or Program Coordinator.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the dignity of all participants.
6. Administration and Financial Tasks:
- Assist in creating and sending out invoices related to program activities and services.
- Monitor and track payments, ensuring timely processing and follow-up on outstanding invoices.
- Support the Facilitator in budget management and financial reporting as required.
- Assist in monitoring petty cash, client attendance lists, and volunteer attendance.
Who you are:
- Certificate III or IV in Aged Care, Community Services, or a related (preferred)
- Previous experience working with individuals living with dementia or in aged care is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in supporting individuals with dementia.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
