Mrs. Bich Cam Nguyen OAM, Founder of the Australian Vietnamese Women’s Association (AVWA), has devoted over four decades to the wellbeing of Australia's Vietnamese community. Before serving as Principal of AMES St Albans from 1996, she taught Vietnamese, English, and French. In 1990, she successfully advocated for a crucial education centre in St Albans. She established AVWA in 1983 to empower Vietnamese Australians, serving as its CEO from 2004 to 2022, and President since 2023. Her lifelong dedication is widely recognised; she was honoured as Victoria’s Senior of the Year in 2021 and awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 2024.
