Nhuong Thai

Mr. Nhuong Thai has devoted over 40 years to refugee support and Vietnamese cultural preservation. Arriving in Australia in 1978, he taught at Maribyrnong Secondary College while assisting unaccompanied refugee minors at the Department of Human Services. In 1984, he founded Lạc Hồng Vietnamese School, now Australia's largest Vietnamese language institution, which offers VCAA-accredited programs. An educational author, he created the comprehensive Em Học Tiếng Việt textbook series and trained numerous language educators. His lifetime of service has earned him multiple honours, including the Community Service Excellence Award (2002) and the Excellence in Vietnamese Language Preservation award (2025).
