Professor Tien Kieu is a Vietnamese-Australian quantum physicist, community leader, and former parliamentarian. Born in Saigon, he fled Vietnam by boat in 1980, rebuilding his future in Australia. A University of Queensland Medallist and University of Edinburgh PhD graduate, he has held prestigious research appointments at Oxford, Melbourne, and Columbia Universities, as well as CSIRO. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at Swinburne University of Technology. A dedicated community advocate, he founded Vietnamese Television (VNTV) and served in the Victorian Parliament Legislative Council (2018–2022). Throughout his diverse career, he has consistently championed STEM education, multicultural communities, and equal opportunity for all.
